A woman in Los Angeles has been taken to hospital suffering from bubonic plague, doctors have confirmed.
The woman probably caught the disease after being bitten by infected fleas in her home, said Dr Jonathan Fielding, the county’s director of public health.
Fleas! Those damn things that seem impossible to squish. I remember seeing a few and realizing that it takes a lot more than a firm step to squash the bastards.
This was an episode of Fox’s HOUSE last night. ( I watch it ). Of course they found the infected patch of skin close to the end of the episode so tune in next week to find the cure. (She also supposedly got scratched by her infected dog, who got infected by a flea.) Scarry Stuff.
