Make use of that toilet water will you?!
Each year your toilet uses thousands of gallons with each toilet flush. The water that refills your bowl is no different from the tap water coming out of your sink right?
Have you ever turned around after flushing the toilet to wonder how you could make the process of using the bathroom a little more efficient? Real Goods may have what you’re looking for in the form of their toilet lid sink.
Rather than letting that “clean” water refilling your toilet tank go to waste, it’s cycled through the tank-top sink. What does that mean? It means that the moment you hit that flush knob, the water starts flowing allowing you to rinse knowing you’re being an efficient little water user.

Japan has had these for years… I think its compulsory in new appartment buildings… :-) When I was there a few months back I thought it was a brilliant idea considering in Australia (where i live) we are running out of water fast…
Cheers
I’ve used one of these [in Japan], the weirdest one I found had a drinking fountain attached.
they’re a great idea.
the drinking fountain above the toilet might be a little too much for me. i mean i understand the water quality is no different but the idea of slurping right above the bowl… blech. i’ll pass.
when space is a commodity with little room to waste, i guess you have to get by…
WATER FOUNTAIN!? my god… if there is any country that has need for bottled water Japan would have to be it… The smell of bleach in the water is bad enough without having to drink it as well… stranger still is a japanese style tolet with the wash bowl ontop… very strange and wrong compared to western style tolets ;)…
Don’t forget about Mexico….they need bottled water too. :p
