I don't drive, and however drunk I can be on a Friday night, it never hurt anyone (except my head the next morning). And you know what? Neither did I ever see any one in the, ever packed, night bus do. What are they going to come up next? Alcohol second hand breath vapours killing innocents? If we can ban a legal product from being used because secondhand smoke causes cancer (sometimes-maybe), then why can't we ban public drunkenness because it causes secondhand drunk driving deaths (sometimes-maybe)? I would even speculate that more people die from drunk driving accidents than from secondhand smoke. This is the slippery slope of smoking bans. In the end, I tend to think the initiative's benefit's outweigh its detriments, especially since is <b>is</b> illegal to be publicly drunk (even in a bar) anyway.
