Great. As though the instant messaging service wasn’t over saturated as it is, MySpace is launching a pedophilia promotional tool product / service of their own.

  • MySpace Messenger account with your own MySpace username! OMG ROXZRs! Like, if all the kids on the world didn’t have multiple screennames of their own, they’ll have more reason to register more!
  • IM your MySpace friends anytime! Great. As if the worlds population over didn’t spend enough time on MySpace as it is.
  • And the list goes on and I’m too tired to have to poke fun at the service.

While most internet users would be hard pressed trying to convince their friends to switch to Google Talk or Skype, I doubt MySpace Messenger will have a tough time getting off the ground. The user base is in place, the service already has a web based instant messaging service.. what else is needed?

Updates will follow as more information rolls in. Evan, let me know if you get in on this.

Im sure “tom” will find a way onto everyones buddy list using AJAX..

  5. Wash Jones says:

I think all people who use MySpace should be ground up and fed to people who don’t use MySpace.

That way you can get rid of two of the worlds problems, hunger and stupidity.

  6. FernyB says:

MySpace IM with fail and die. because they dont care about mac and linux users. and Tom will have a painful death. lol

  7. Derek says:

all naysayers will probably discover that myspace messenger – despite being a latecomer to the im game – will most likely be somewhat of a success as each teenie bopper in this world will install the application when they link is made available in the myspace preferences. sad.. but true.

  8. Rodney says:

No doubt somebody will embed a virus into it before long, and it’ll be a new 0-day.

  9. Paul says:

I just refuse to even go onto that website at all. It’s just so crap. Now it is even owned by Rupert Murdoch!

lol, nice strikeout text in the write up!

I agree with you Derek for the same reasoning. I just wonder if it’ll be plastered with ads! Not that I care either way, but they likely see it as a way to make even more cash… not as a useful tool.

  11. Sarah says:

    Oh god, not another IM!

  12. John says:

They need to have a linux version or use a publically accesible protocol like jabber
