It’s official: Google acquires Writely

I’ve been watching the rumor boards regarding the acquistion of Writely by Google. Apparently the rumors were true and Writely is now part of the Google family.

For the last five months, I’ve been part of a Silicon Valley startup called Upstartle, which makes Writely, a collaborative word processor that runs in a web browser. Well, as of Monday, I’m happy to say that I, and the rest of the Writely team, are now part of Google. #

You can check Writely.com for the official news as well. Thankfully there are no plans to insert adsense ads into the Writely interface. Hopefully, the paid premium options Writely offered will be opened up to general registered users.

Google online office suite here we come!

true.. google can be intimidating with the immense power they hold online, but you have to focus on the positive aspects. think of the development resources writely now has.
