If you don’t know what the deal is regarding SXSW, you can read up on the South by Southwest festival on the official page. It’s a great way to discover new independant artists.
If you’re looking for some fresh tracks to fill your music player with, music for robots has an impressive list of artists and corresponding MP3 tracks.

They offered one big download with all of the artists last year (or Boing Boing did). Are they doing the same this time around? (if so, I can’t see the proper linkage on their page)
On second thought, I think they offered it after the event. Or someone compiled everything. it wound up being a 1+gig download, but tons of great stuff.
