Mainstream DVD Conversion

Sure, you could fill your video iPod with episodes of Knight Rider from iTunes for $2 a pop. Or you could save some cash – and your soul – and fill it with files you convert from your DVD collection using freely available software. Problem is, you’d have to break the law. Though it’s theoretically OK to back up DVDs for personal use, it’s illegal to override commercial copy protection, a necessary step in the process. Proceed at your own risk.
I also personally like Handbrake Lite for the Mac.
Yeah, actually yesterday I tried it and it works really well. Very simple and easy. Got the Holy Grail on my ipod now ;)
3GP_Converter is an awesome program. I have it mentioned as an alternative to Quicktime on my blog.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me a hand. When I combined the Video files together and watched the video on nero, everthing is fine. AFter I converted the file for ipod, for some reason I have the directers commentary version. O_O I have NO idea why this is. Anyone have any ideas?

In DVD Decrypter go into the options and change the File Splitting setting to None (IFO Mode).. Also in the Stream Processing tab uncheck the unwanted audio and subtitle streams..
Kind of strange that Wired would throw in an extra step (merging the split vob files, DVD Decrypter can do it while it rips from the disc). And not mention removing extra audio and junk like that.
Also Videora iPod Converter is a million times better then 3GP (in my opinion at least)..

Thanks, I figured out that that was the problem 10 minutes after I posted. However, When I tried to decrypt the dvd with dvddecrypter it got to 100%, but never actually finished. Any ideas?
Can anyone please tell me where I can find anykind of DVD converter for iPod video? I have a bunch of Mars Volta bootlegs on DVD I want to put on my iPod. I have not had any success with the xilisoft converters. Please somebody HELP!

What I’ve been using is Videora ipod Converter. Been working fine for me. I set up a que of about 20 shows, and let it run overnight. In the morning, BAM! Got videos for my iPod. Hope that helps
Emory, Sweet Thanks. I downloaded Videora iPod converter and it worked great. Do you know how I can combine my videos once there converted. For example when I convert a dvd thats 1 hour and 40 minutes It transcodes the movie in segments like 1_1_mp4 and 1_2_mp4. Can you help me with that? Again the software worked great thanks alot bro.
