Cooqy: Look I have an eBay desktop

Rather than directly navigating the eBay website while browsing (with your twitching finger ready to bid), try searching and browsing in a rich [Flash] desktop interface.

Cooqy was built because eBay’s website has grown to be too cumbersome for efficient surfing. eBay item listings in particular are turning into hotdog stands with all kinds of noise. Cooqy helps eBay shoppers efficiently shop for eBay goodies, without the hassles. Cooqy interfaces with the eBay API and strips out the noise, especially from item listings.
I also wanted to mention that although Cooqy is developed with new technology, we have tested it with a 5-year old 1.8GHz 56K modem machine. Since we talk straight to the eBay API and render screens in Flash, each network transaction is drastically smaller than surfing eBay’s own HTML website. If your surfing speed doesn’t live up to this promise, it’s because Cooqy is currently hosted on a home PC w/ standard DSL. :-) We will relocate Cooqy to a data center whenever the PC becomes saturated and Cooqy looks to be a viable asset to the eBay community.
The downside to a Flash-based interface is the initial download of our 200KB desktop. After the first download, though, subsequent start times are immediate, as the desktop is stored in the browser cache. Program updates are automatically downloaded thereafter.
Being only two months young, the real value-add functionality is yet to be developed. We welcome comments and feedback to help make our free service better.
