While Dale Begg-Smith’s prominence in the 2006 Olympics spans the globe, few will notice the fact that despite his Olympic shining moments, he holds a secret “day job” that many may frown down upon.

Canadian-born Begg-Smith reportedly is president of AdsCPM Network (a.k.a. CPM Media Inc.), a firm notorious for using “driveby downloads,” security exploits, and other cheap tricks to install spyware (including keyloggers and browser hijackers) on unsuspecting Internet users’ computers.

I’m not sure where the International Olympic Commitee stands on the matter. I’m not sure I should be disappointed. Spyware and keyloggers are bad news. Yet, this kid – at 21 years of age – managed to run a successful business and put in enough training to earn a Gold Medal. Thoughts?

    Yours is the only post I read thus far to suggest a positive angle to this guy. All the other news/posts are pretty denigrating or just strictly official.

    They said on NBC the other day that he made his first million at age 13! (can’t remember for what exactly, perhaps through that used ski gear store he started up years ago? [mentioned in the 'read more']) Either way, I’d like to end his career… both of them!
