Halo 2 for PC a Windows Vista ‘exclusive’

Microsoft looked to Bungie’s Halo to sell its Xbox console, and it’s now planning to see if the same trick will persuade gamers to upgrade to Windows Vista. Yes, Halo 2, which shipped for Xbox over a year ago, is coming to the PC but you’ll need Microsoft’s next major operating system release to run it. The game will not run on Windows XP, Bungie admitted this week. It will run “exclusively” on Vista.
So basically if you want to game on your PC, you MUST upgrade Windows. COME ON GOVERNMENT!

There might be doing this for a few reasons.
1, I think we’ve all heard that Vista’s hardware requirements will be pretty high. They probably don’t want to spend the resources to optimize Halo 2, so they just release it under Vista, which shouldbe running on a pretty beefy hardware.
2, They might want to sell more software by forcing the die-hard Halo fans to buy the new OS.
3, Simply MS sucks… like when they decided to buy Bungie, change all the Halo project development…

Anyway, would most ppl not be running Vista when it is released? XP is around 5 years old and is still full of bugs, no-one should be wanting to stick with it!
But some people, like me, wont be able to rin Vista due to lack of good hardware… but If you were going to play Halo, I guess that you would have some good hardware…

About the government part. What can they do? They cannot do anything about it. MS owns the game and all its rights. They can do whatever they want with it, including making it exclusive to Vista, which in turn they own as well.

So, does this mean that Vista will have support for multiple joysticks/gamepads?
I tried like mad to get XP to support more than one gamepad, so more than one person can play on one PC at one time. No way it would work.
Of course, I doubt it’ll work on Vista, but I’d wager they haven’t thought of this, have they?
All this negative reaction… Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t Microsoft a BUSINESS? Ya know, that thingy you do to make money? The idiots who complain are probably the same ones who are unhappy they can’t play HALO on their 386.

But think about all this slow progression with Vista, maybe they’re up to something bigger than we can imagine. I mean they don’t have to tell the public everything they’re doing. Maybe they have like only 100 guys working on some “seriously behind the scenes” stuff.
So stop thinking this release of Vista is just a fluke, we are way over our heads with what we think is going to happen.
this is my xbox live gamer tag. u all should us x box live its much better than computer. i know u dont think so but u should try it. I know there are cheaters on xbox live but there are us legit people also and we need more legit people to play. im a legit 35 and i cant play slayer much on my high acct because people cheat. so if u have an xbox or xbox 360 come play with us. and get of ur computer nerd bottom. we could use some fresh meat to throw into the grinder. thats right we need you
think about it most pepole who buy halo for the pc is because they dont have a xbox or xbox 360. and not to many pepole have windows vista either. making it only for vista isnt going to make us buy it. we might as well just buy a 360 wich is only $100 more.
wats the point in upgrading to windows vista when in 2 years theres windows vienna they r trying to keep it quiet but its likke everywhere now so whats the point in paying like £70 to 400 odd becasue vienna will be the same price so i dont see the point in buying vista

There must be a way to play the game on the xp. I mean that 3k of people on a pitition to want to have it on xp and nothing happened so far,
Alright look am kind of stuck on a ledge here, i have windows vista ultimate, and am woundering if i should buy halo2 for windows or buy unreal tournament 04 or some other game for pc. I have an xbox just no xbox live account, and plus i think i sold halo 2 for my xbox and so i have NO HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want some action, but i don’t know what to do. I mean it’s 50$ i just don’t want to waste my money. I would really appreciate it if some body game me some help on what i should do. Plus I want a pc game where there are TONS of peple stilling playing, and Halo is still pretty popular.
