Apple’s failure to match pre-Macworld speculation and announce a revised iPod Shuffle could have sounded the screen-less music player’s death knell. Its replacement, suggests UBS Investment Research analyst Ben Reitzes, will be a 1GB iPod Nano.

As an iPod Shuffle user, it is somewhat disappointing to even imagine the Shuffle being cut from the Apple iPod lineup. the screenless player is priceless for users – like me – who rarely pull the player out of their pockets. However, replacing the 1GB Shuffle with a 1GB Nano seems like a advantageous decision on Apple’s part. The Nano manufacturing resoures are in place. A 1GB Nano would silence cries for a Shuffle featuring a “screen”. Thoughts?

I was disappointed when they added the Shuffle to the iPod lineup. It’s just.. not an iPod.

Well, you can make your nano a shuffle, sorta, by just going into the setting for the main menu, and deactivating everything but Shuffling Songs….

its one click and youre cruising… you might want to add the playlists too if you want to listen in order…

    I wouldn’t miss the Shuffle at all…

  4. Jake says:

But it has a screen and a click-wheel! A real Shuffle should NOT have a screen and a click wheel!! (LOL)

If they add a 1GB Nano, I want to see a 6GB Nano too.

I have to fight for the shuffle myself, I have yet to grab one, but it’s ideal for those that are sports orientated, no chance of platter damage, despite the “shock protection” supposedly patented and implemented in the other platter based hard drives.

  8. Derek says:

what other player can you spin ’round and ’round by the headphones without worrying the player is going to fly off? none! the shuffle is so light you don’t have to worr about the thing fallying off on to the ground if it happens to get pulled out of your pocket.
