In the magazine “Mac Fan 2006″, the March issue reported that they without problem tried to replace the processor of iMac (Early 2006) /1.83GHz with Intel Core Duo T2500 (2GHz).

It is reported that the iMacs uses standard CPU sockets making this possible.
