Don’t sit on your hands waiting for Google Talk to officially support AIM integration. Connect to more than just AIM users now!

BigBlueBall has the full tutorial with images. I’m not Jabber veteran so I’ll leave it up to the professionals to do the hand holding.

I can vouch that this method does indeed work. Unfortunately, the tedious steps and often unstable connections make it tough for me to convince myself to drop Gaim.

    a nice tutorial, but…….

who wants to use another Google product ?????
I think people should stop supporting that “next Microsoft” empire !!!!

with no work at all (just download and install) you can use Miranda IM ( http://www.miranda-im.org/ ) to IM with every IM client out there.
it’s free, it’s open source (many extensions available) and it’s not Google….

you can also check Trillian ( http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/ ) which I’ve never tried but should be a cool, free IM as well.

udi9, i agree miranda is better. it was pretty blank compared to trillian, but now i got a cool vista skin. the only prob that i’m sometimes facing is AIM doesn’t connect using the standard login server.

Between FF gmail notifier, GDS2, and GTalk I was getting 3 notifications for every email I received. I dropped GTalk client and stick with Gaim.

/waiting anxiously for Gaim 2.0 final

miranda is decent. like justin, i had trouble connecting from time to time.

i’ve since stuck with gaim for a hassle free client which can access all major networks / jabber.
