url(x) – URL shortening service

Always one emailing long links to friends and family, shortening URLs has become a daily habit. Oftentimes, emailing long links turns a valid working address into a disjointed worthless string of text on the recipients end.

I’ve relied on TinyURL for the past few months but recently discovered url(x). The idea is the same, submit a long URL into the form and receive a URL that is oftentimes 25% of the original length. The advantage of url(x) is the ability to choose whether or not you wish to retain the originating domain.

URL shortening may be old news to some, but new to others.

this is a great concept…I think that this one is much better you can personalize your url – http://snipurl.com/index.php

heard that Guy Kawasaki uses this one :-)
