How-To: Download music videos from Yahoo with LyFOX & VLC

In order to keep this tutorial short, we’ll assume that you have a good grasp on how to use the VLC media player to download raw video content if given the required MMS:// URi. Read our How-To: Downloading Yahoo! Music Videos with Firefox & VLC.
The LyFOX application does the dirty work of locating each music videos unique MMS:// URi without having to navigate the Yahoo! Music site.
Follow the steps below in order to locate the necessary MMS:// URi on OSX, Windows, or Linux:
- Navigate to Farando Barajo’s page and download the OS dependant versions of LyFOX: OSX, Windows, and Linux. Unzip to your desktop and double-click the LyFOX application.
- The clean interface provides one user input field. In the search box at the top of the window, enter an artist of your choice and click ‘Search’. LyFOX – modeled after the pkLauch Greasemonkey userscript – qeuries the Yahoo music music videos for the matchin artist and returns a list of available music videos.
- In the list of available music videos, highlight the clip you wish to download and select the ‘More Info’ drop down menu at the bottom of the window. The MMS information box will display the ‘Artist’, ‘Title’, [Video] ‘ID’, and most importantly ‘MMS’. Copy the MMS:// URi and open the VLC media player to download.

Question: In LyFOX, I get an error message invalid input…does anyone know why or how to fix?
I have try it and success. But now i can’t download music from yahoo anyway.

after i download a bit say about 2mb
then restart my comp and once again start downloading,
it doesnt work
why so?
How much of a risk is there of being caught downloading videos?
Or does it just appear like you are viewing them????

hello everyone.i’m new to this site.i used SDP and after i pase the yahoo mms url i get an error like this
TCP network timing packets received
> Server Error Message : You do not have access to the location or file
> Disconnected
does anyone know what to do?
I got lyfox and i chose a music video (I double clicked it) and it said on the side getting video then done press play but there is no mms so i pressed play and nothing plays this is happening with all the videos i choose nothing happens please help
Same here. LyFox displays the different artists but when I try to retrieve the mms it shows up as blank. Please help.
I agree with Carlos and Paul. I tried downloading Ludacris “Slap”, Mario”How Do I Breathe”, and Eve “Tambourine”, but no mms comnes up. the play button is activated, but there is no mms. I tried using Orbit, and others, but they don’t work as good as LyFox. I have a Windows, yet it worked really good, until 3 days ago

Is there gonna be a new lyfox or whats going on I have like 3 weeks now and still no new lyfox!
im having the same problem that carlos and paul and these other guys are having. no mms code shows up after clicking on the videos. anyone know why this is happening or how to fix this problem?
gah, im getting the same along with my friend as well. something tells me yahoo doesnt like us messing with their videos… gah really liked the program though, and hope an update will come out to remedy the problem.

But I cant install Lyfox! I downloaded it but it doesnt automatically run the installation. How do I go about this? Anyone…help please?
You don’t install lyfox you just unzip it and use whichever operating system you have windows or mac. I also hope there is an update soon
I unziped lyfox but there was no application it wont work for me anybody know how to download from yahoo.please.
I just stumbled across the website and have unzipped lyfox, i’m a windows user, however when i type in the artist name it displays the results but no mms is displayed. What do i do? I’m trying to download some vids.
