Sprint finally catches up with the real world

This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Yes, I am a CDMA user, and love it. But Sprint has been out of the loop when it came to text messaging. They were one of the last providers to adopt ‘true SMS’ (I still think their Nextel division swears by some form of shortmail), but now they are catching on.
We all knew previously that you could text a landline phone, which was/is as really cool feature. It certainly helped me get out of a meeting or two.
Most importantly, for those who were screaming BLOODY MURDER, Sprint now fully integrates with the AIM gateway so you can not only now forward your AIM messages to your cellphone, but you can reply. Wow, only took a year to fix that.
However, most interestingly Sprint allows you to send an SMS when roaming with various agreements they have in place with Verizon (At least in Metro NY, and DC for all I know). That is VERY handy.
I guess they have to do SOMETHING to justify the $10 rate hike for unlimited texting for new subscribers.
Do you have a link to a press release?
I’ve used sprint for a long time, and I love their digital roaming, because it lets you use almost any vendor’s cell tower. The vision service is also handy because while away from home I can use a data cable to get wireless internet at 28.8 speeds.
There was no press release on this… This is all informal observations.
