Those of you who want to take Google ads to the next level may be interested in a deal offered by Los Angeles radio host Phil Hendrie. The comic has put up a large lump sum to anyone who can have their banner spotted from space by Google maps.
“You know, I have this plan,” Hendrie said, during a broadcast this month.
“Do you ever do Google maps? Okay, you know how they have the satellite picture of the whole world, right. I’ve got a standing offer for $10,000 for anybody who puts sign on the roof of their house big enough that it can be seen by the satellite on Google maps.”

This will not work for most people.. if I put up a sign today it may “never” be seen, why? I’ve been in my house for 2 years and it still shows as a dirt lot on google maps. No, I dont live in po-dunk Arkansas, I live in Las Vegas.
well one problem is really how often do google put new maps up.

The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood (where the academy awards is held at) has the words “Kodak Theatre” written on the roof and you can see it with no problem on Google satallite. im guessing in major cities like Los Angeles to make a logo seen on the satallite will be easier since the zoom goes all the way in.
Yep, I am in the city of Los Angeles in an apartment building that is 18 months old, and it too shows a dirt lot.
If only we had a satellite that took on demand pictures…
Not very much of an update there.

I worked with a research team while at Georgia Tech that did have a satellite that he could take pictures with. His cube was full of pictures of him all over the world, laying down and waving to the sky. I wish I had a toy like that.
