There are a handful of applications available to users hoping to maintain a productive lifestyle. What better way to keep your life organized then a desktop calendar? Always one who attempts to keep my life organized, I’ve begun utilizing a free, lightweight, and skinnable desktop calendar / todo application called Rainlendar. Here’s how I’ve managed to make use of my time:

Right-click here to download the above wall (1024 x 768).

  • Point your browser to Rainy’s page and download a copy of Rainlendar to your desktop. [Windows only]
  • Double-click the installer. [I hope you can manage completing the installation by yourself.]
  • For the sake of “how come my Rainlendar doesn’t look like your screenshot” whiners requests you can find a great selection of skins on Customize.org which I’ve kindly linked.
  • Following the installation, Rainlendar should now be open with the default calendar / todo / upcoming events windows. Right-click in any of the windows to display a drop down menu.
  • If you currently use Outlook, Rainlendar will sync it’s todo list with your current Outlook items. It’s easy to add events or items to your calendar or todo list. Double-click on either a specific date or in the todo list window.
  • Last but not least, double-click in the todo window and add “Tell friends / family about UNEASYsilence”.

Again, if you’re interested in replacing the default Rainlendar skin check out Customize.org for a handful of skinning options. Once downloaded, unzip and drop each respective folder into C:\Program Files\Rainlendar\Skins. If you want Rainlendar to start when you power up Windows, drop a shortcut into the Start > All Programs > Startup Folder.
