Ahhhhhhh!!!!

Don’t think your eyes are playing tricks on you – We are testing a low bandwidth edition of UES. What do you think?

UPDATE: This will may be used in a high load situation, but we are testing its impact on the server for the next few days to see how many resources we are saving.

  4. DJ RusTy says:

It loads fast as hell on wireless broadband…

  5. ALEXDCD says:

Wow, you gave me a trippin. Why not give everyone the option? eg if you are a cheap scammy boostards then u use the low bandwidth, general users have multimedia rich pages. Clean design of the masthead, but i little too macesque for my tastes

  6. Guy says:

Yahhh.. I dont like it either.. Just doesnt seem like… Uneasysilence.. you need that weird face dude thats always on top somewhere

  7. sam says:

Is the world really so starved for bandwidth that alternate versions of webpages need proliferate? I, for one, have several mobile devices that are web enabled, but don’t actually use them to read webpages except under the most needful circumstances. I think that instead of dumbing down the web to fit mobile devices, we should expect more capable devices to access existing content. My $.02

  8. William says:

I actually like it more than the previous design. This one is much cleaner. Maybe you could combine the two (keep the weird guy’s face). Though, that would defeat the purpose of your making a low bandwidth design.

  9. Dan says:

Agreed – Maybe there is something in between…

Don’t worry the old layout will be back soon.

  10. Dylan says:

I kinda like it, provides all the functionality, how about just providing Uneasysilence in a mobil version and regular, because when Im traviling, I check up here often, but dont really have problems with the site, but this works better on my sidekick

  11. Dan says:

We are thinking of the two versions too.

  12. Jake says:

The UES designs just keep getting worse. :\

  13. Dan says:

I think we are going to provide the ability to switch between the two designs…

  14. Chris says:

just keep playing with it, it will work out in the end

  15. Nate MC says:

Well I’m curious to see a comparison of bandwidth and processor consumption between the two. Hope you share the data.

  16. Dan says:

    I sure will….

This skin will be the only one available for the next few days so I have accurate readings.

  17. Justin says:

it renders horribly on Mac IE

  18. matt says:

I’m surprised at everyone’s reactions — I actually really like this theme. It’s pretty clean, and in the end it’s the content that matters the most.

  19. KeR-E says:

  21. TTA says:

Yup. Thats low bandwidth all right. Looks really lite? Maybe get it ready for mobile devices? Otherwise, i too miss the big head guy. Looks clean though, with sharper graphics….
