Is your sense of smell playing tricks on you?

Do supermarkets inject an artificial odour of baking bread into their air-conditioning systems, to give customers the impression of shopping in a real bakery?

An interesting concept to mull over the next time you’re walking through the grocery store or movie theatre. I can attest to the fact that the local grocery stores here do not do this. I think?  I’ve visited a few both during normal hours and after hours. The “bakery” scent is obviously missing at 11PM. Maybe they unplug the Glade plugins at night to make it a little less obvious? What smells good sells good right?
