Cribs: The Simpson House

Unfortunately I’m not a Simpson’s fan so images of this real life “Simpson’s” house get nothing but a raised eyebrow from me.

Barbara Howard, a 63-year-old retired factory worker from Richmond, Ky., has won the multi-colored four-bedroom home that every 12-year-old kid in the country would die to call his digs. [...] Howard’s winning entry was selected from 15 million nationwide. She had sent in an entry form retrieved from a Brisk Ice Tea box — a beverage she said she frequently drinks. [...] The Simpson House is painted a vibrant yellow and baby blue — both inside and out. Power orange, generator green, jazz age coral and pink flamingo colors adorn furniture, walls and floors inside. Even Bart’s swing set and Homer’s barbecue in the backyard are painted brilliantly.

Yep. Its in Henderson, Nevada and this was “news” YEARS ago. You can bet the homeowners association didn’t allow it to stay that way either.

  2. Jonny says:

I’d never heard about it, so it’s news to me. What is wrong with someone that they’d want to do this?

    that is just wrong…..

  4. Keirin says:

Are those images hot-linked, or hosted on an affiliate site? Hot-linking would mean someone else is paying for the bandwidth, which is Not Cool.

I remember when this first was news. I was in 6th grade so that was… ‘98. My history teacher told us about it. We kids were horrified to learn that even though the house was given tours for the first week or so, after the lady won the house, she had it turned normal. Her grandkids wanted to keep it, but grandma wasn’t liking the idea of her grandson turning into a real life Bart.

Bwahaha, I’d heard about this, but I didn’t realize how long ago…those images are hot-linked…to the LasVegasSun’s web archive, dated 1997.

  7. Kenton says:

Holy crap, that looks like a flippin toy playset. Would be cool to have a tour around it though.

  8. Derek says:

@keirin: The images are not hotlinked. What kind of blog do you think this is!? j/k. The images are linked to the originating site. However, the images that you see on this page are thumbnails which are hosted on our servers.
