Are you interested in getting more traffic to your page? Maybe you just have something to say? If you’ve got a few extra dollars laying around, why not consider investing them on The Million Dollar Homepage.

The page is run by Alex Tew, a 21 year old from England with honest intentions of funding his university education.

First and foremost, if I make enough money, I will pay my way through University. That includes 3 years worth of tuition fees, accomodation fees, textbooks etc, and [god forbid] – having a social life!

After that, I would like to pay for my parents to have some time off because they work so hard and they deserve a break. I would like to return some of the support they have given me over all these years.

Thirdly… socks! I definitely need some new socks. Whenever I buy new ones they seem to disappear, or they disintegrate. So I want to buy some really expensive, long-lasting socks.

The Million Dollar Homepage consists of 1 million individual pixels. Each pixel is valued at $1 a piece with a minimum purchase requirement of a 100 pixel block (10 x 10 pixels). Design your banner accordingly and have it placed somewhere on the page. I love the idea!

    I think http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com is a great and original idea – I hope he makes some good money and sails through uni without the debts that cripple UK students. Good luck to him.

    Looks like there could be a “region” race:

    U.S. => http://www.milliondollarwebpage.com

    Europe => http://www.millioneruohomepage.com

    And the original being from the U.K.

    All that is needed now is Asia, Africa, and maybe a few others.

    I’ve found http://www.eabypixels.com – this one is only for eBay users, but you can win a digital camera if you don’t want to pay for pixels :) – cost is £10 for each box and you have to be an ebay seller for this (or point another one, but what would be the reason for it?? :) )

    Alex Tew is a genius, and deserves credit. I’m doing a “spinoff site to try to raise money for a new home. When some ads are sold, I’ll buy space on Alex’s page out of respect.

    It gives the advertisers the chance to win the prime 160,000 pixels on the homepage each time a user visits the site.

  25. James Topham says:

    Hi – have also created a bill-board style site – http://www.milliondollarcowpage.com – which I think is a little different – for a start, it has cows!

    I’ve been thinking that it seems odd that the people who click on the links don’t get anything – apart from forwarded to the advertiser’s home page – so I thought I’d give them a little more. Every time you click on the million dollar cow page you get a cow. You can collect your cows, swap your cows, even have them do battle in top-trump style gaw fests.

    It’s only been up a few days, but I’m trying to drum up some support. If you’re interested, take a look at http://www.milliondollarcowpage.com

    The cow one made me laugh. So if people click and there’s cow fights, can we watch? I also created one:

    http://www.MillionDollarHomePage.net

    We’re giving away ipod nanos, and I’m trying to think of a good click incentive that might involve cash (or more nanos).

    Here is a great site! The http://www.milliondollarpixellottery.com
    where you buy a block for $150 (i.e.$50 more than Alex T’s but it give you the chance to win $1.000.000 with your PayPal Transaction Receipt Number! Great Idea…I think! For $50 you have a 1 to 100.000 chance or more..depending how may you buy to win the Million…a much better chance than any other lottery i have come across!

  34. AC says:

    Will anyone buy from these stupid pixel websites? First if is horrible trying to find a product, and second, how would the everyday regular buyer know where to find the pixel website?

  35. Jake says:

    I agree with AC that is so hard in finding a site where you can actually see what the pixel ad is trying to advertise. That is why I loved this one site when I saw it called Banners Bring Business at http://www.bannersbringbusiness.com where they sell banner ads at 88×31 for $100 whereas on pixel sites it is just a 10×10 block for the same price. At least at this site you get more bang for your buck and people can actually see what they are advertising to them.
