Flickr has definitely gone mainstream

This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.By mainstream I mean Flickr has opened its doors to all Yahoo members. No more new registrations for anyone. I mean, who doesn’t have a Yahoo account? Ever since Yahoo announced their intent to acquire Ludicorp, I twidled my thumbs waiting for a serious change in the system. That change has just happened. Yahoo members, can now sign into Flickr using their Yahoo usernames.
Existing Flickr users have the option to merge their current account with their Yahoo account. I’m assuming that doing so would associate both usernames for future Yahoo / Flickr services. If you do decide to merge your Flickr and Yahoo accounts, you won’t need to change your current Flickr screen name.
On a side note, I think I’m going to have to acquaint myself with the comment blocking feature built into Flickr. I forsee more spam comments on photographs.
