Using Ubuntu Live CD I follow all the instructions and when I put the following in:

dd bs=1048576 if=./tiger-x86-flat.img of=/dev/sda

I get permission denied can anyone please help.
Problem sorted, in terminal type sudo -i and this gives you admin access on live cd and then the above command line works fine.

The problem I am having now is Network Card and my Wireless card.
Where could I find a driver list to use with Mac OS X and Samsung NP-R70.

I have it running natively on a Gateway mx6629 laptop. Running a Pentium M, 1.86 GHz, 2Gb DDR2 @ 667 MHz... graphics and speed are flawless, as well as sound. Broadom Wirelss Doesn't work, neither does Marvel/Yukon 10/100/1000 Ethernet. So... no internet :(. But, other than the fact that it can't resolute beyond 1024x768, it looks great. Any ideas on the networking issues??? Thanks.

For those whit a Integrated Intel Extreme 3D Graphics (82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller) you need to define in the BIOS at leat 8MB Video Memory.

Some Dell computers requiere the BIOS Upgrade from DELL to show this option.

I had installed MAC OS X86 JaS on DELL GX60, with the integrated video. The problem that cause the grayscale at setup is the video allocated memory by default is assigned 1MB so 700KB are asigned to video during setup causing the grayscale. After changing the BIOS to 8MB Video Shared Memory you should get at leat 7MB for video during setup, so all would be normal.

The problem i notice is that 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller may not use more than 8MB of shared memory because is the maximum you can select from the BIOS in DELLGX60 so you may notice some buggy video on fullscreen MACOSX86. The effects and other features looks fine under 8MB.

OK, I must say that the people here who are bashing the Mac hardware have obviously never used it. I put OS X86 on a Compac Presario after upgrading the mother board to a NVidia 1600, processor to a AMD 64x2, and the video card to a Radion 1650x, I also brought the RAM up to 2 Gig. The reason I tried was because after upgrading the PC the recovery disks wouldn't work, and I have an extra copy of Tiger I'm not using after upgrading my Mac to Leopard so I didn't feel bad about "stealing" the OS. After a week long fight I finally got it running acceptable but nowhere close to how well my MacBook runs it. On a side note, using BootCamp the MacBook even runs Vista better then my sisters brand new AlienWare notebook which reports it has "better" hardware then my Mac. And to XEF6HATER the reason there are no viruses for Mac and Linux is because of a superior Kernel, I would figure with all the MS loving Mac haters like yourself out there someone would have written a Mac virus by now to put us Mac users in our place, but the only time I've ever heard of someone getting a virus on a Mac was when they were running Windows.

"... if they want to topple microsoftie, then make OS X usable on other hardware than just your own."

This would be great, but it ain't gonna happen. This is M$'s worst nightmare, and as soon as Apple tried it M$ would sue them in a dozen courts at once (makes no difference that all the suits would be groundless; M$ has enough cash on hand to tie Apple up in court for decades), modify all their OEM contracts to require a promise that they'll never even _say_ Apple, even at the supermarket, and fix their Apple versions of Office to blow up instantly on non-Apple hardware.

Apple knows this. They're not in business to topple M$, they're in business to make money.

(And as for the last comment above, hey, have you gotten your nice new Vista machine to play a HD-DVD movie at full resolution yet? Have you tried replacing one of your hard disks yet? Have fun. M$ is now well past the point where actually satisfying its customers has any priority at all; everything is devoted to protecting their market share and controlling the industry. Vista is their third release of NT4 with ever larger tailfins.)
