Using a motherboard with an Intel 915 chipset and a P4/Celeron D Processor, you can get OSX up and running natively. It’s FAST and is 100% compatible(sound, accelerated graphics, and networking). It also runs PowerPC Applications. This hardware can be obtained for around $100. This is a list for OSX x86 hardware compatibility.
Info is scattered all over so I compiled a list of working components that work in native mode (no Pear, or VMware).
If you have more, add it, IF it works completely. Please ONLY add the components and no questions, failures, etc.
We need a clear list of working components.
Fully working hardware list.
CPU SSE3
AMD 64 (venice)
Intel Prescot P4
Intel Celeron D*SSE2 processors are not listed due to limited operation (certain apps will not work).

Will be updated on occasion
Audio, video, and chipset (no definate networking, but easy to fix with a cheap card)
Intel
No video (or definate networking)
IntelAMD will be added later. Basically, it takes an expensive board and processor.
The cheap setup is Celeron D with a budget board, together, they can be had for about $110. The cheapest board does not show up in the search (as well as a few others, not sure why, I need to look into it). This BIOSTAR U8668 D, and the cheapest Celeron D processor you can find is the cheapest.

OK, I must say that the people here who are bashing the Mac hardware have obviously never used it. I put OS X86 on a Compac Presario after upgrading the mother board to a NVidia 1600, processor to a AMD 64×2, and the video card to a Radion 1650x, I also brought the RAM up to 2 Gig. The reason I tried was because after upgrading the PC the recovery disks wouldn’t work, and I have an extra copy of Tiger I’m not using after upgrading my Mac to Leopard so I didn’t feel bad about “stealing” the OS. After a week long fight I finally got it running acceptable but nowhere close to how well my MacBook runs it. On a side note, using BootCamp the MacBook even runs Vista better then my sisters brand new AlienWare notebook which reports it has “better” hardware then my Mac. And to XEF6HATER the reason there are no viruses for Mac and Linux is because of a superior Kernel, I would figure with all the MS loving Mac haters like yourself out there someone would have written a Mac virus by now to put us Mac users in our place, but the only time I’ve ever heard of someone getting a virus on a Mac was when they were running Windows.
ok first off
cmon , look were not lookin for another mac vs pc arguement
theyr both different types of computer
and iv been on most operating systems at the moment i prefer vista but im tryin 2 put mac on so i can properly look , iv been on macs before and theyr not better or worse than windows theyr different
AND
no i dont want to go and buy a mac , iv already got close to 5 grand worth of computer sitting right next to me, i dont need more lol
and now to wat i wanted 2 kno
iv decided 2 make yet another computer.. my 6th
nd im already running boots of vista , xp , kubuntu for fun and i was thinkin bout runnin osx off my old disk wen i get my nu 1tb XD
neway these will be the system specs , are there any imediate compatiblity issues

For those whit a Integrated Intel Extreme 3D Graphics (82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller) you need to define in the BIOS at leat 8MB Video Memory.
Some Dell computers requiere the BIOS Upgrade from DELL to show this option.
I had installed MAC OS X86 JaS on DELL GX60, with the integrated video. The problem that cause the grayscale at setup is the video allocated memory by default is assigned 1MB so 700KB are asigned to video during setup causing the grayscale. After changing the BIOS to 8MB Video Shared Memory you should get at leat 7MB for video during setup, so all would be normal.
The problem i notice is that 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller may not use more than 8MB of shared memory because is the maximum you can select from the BIOS in DELLGX60 so you may notice some buggy video on fullscreen MACOSX86. The effects and other features looks fine under 8MB.
Regards!
I have it running natively on a Gateway mx6629 laptop. Running a Pentium M, 1.86 GHz, 2Gb DDR2 @ 667 MHz… graphics and speed are flawless, as well as sound. Broadom Wirelss Doesn’t work, neither does Marvel/Yukon 10/100/1000 Ethernet. So… no internet :(. But, other than the fact that it can’t resolute beyond 1024×768, it looks great. Any ideas on the networking issues??? Thanks.
Why the hell would anyone want to run a crappy mac OS anyway?
Using Ubuntu Live CD I follow all the instructions and when I put the following in:
dd bs=1048576 if=./tiger-x86-flat.img of=/dev/sda
I get permission denied can anyone please help

Problem sorted, in terminal type sudo -i and this gives you admin access on live cd and then the above command line works fine.
The problem I am having now is Network Card and my Wireless card.
Where could I find a driver list to use with Mac OS X and Samsung NP-R70.
I have a 1975 Ford Pinto. Can I run OSX86 on it?
