UPDATE: The code has been cracked.
UNEASYsilence visitors are highly intelligent readers, that is why I had NO hesitation posting the OSX Intel challenge.
Justin Nolan of 360hacker.net, who managed to crack the code in less then twelve hours, is proudly our winner.
Click Here for the instructions on how to do this.

So wait all i need to do is load MAC OSX on my spare pc get it to run even if its shoddy and load your site?!
that’s it? pfft done and done hell i’m on it now!…..now i just need to make a video of it…BLAST!
Yup, All you have to do is load it up on the PC, and PROVE that it is running. On the screen it has to display our site in Safari.
Now would a picture from my camera phone be opk as proof? i dont have a video camera but if i show you the brand it’s an HP and your site on it will that be ok?
Yea – Does the digicam have a movie move. I find pictures are extremely easy to fake, but I can set certain requirements.
well i only have a camera phone and i dont have a digi cam that has a movie mode on it so the only thing i can do is take pics using either my phone or m digi cam that only does stil pics.
that video is like the Blair Witch of boot ups. Just missing the snot running from someones nose
OK – when you get it working – we can work on the details
How do we know these are the actual dev builds though? Some of these people could be using something like PearPC to emulate OSX running on a Windows box.
Showing the system profiler will be a requirement – I guess.
You’ve got mail (and a 3mb attachment) ;)
Woa – We might have a winner!
Want to fake a video of OS X intel running on a non-Apple PC? Find a Mac with video out, a PC with video in… Show the live video feed of the boot sequence in full screen on the PC and Voila!
I can confirm that it is real.

[...] Well that didn’t take long. A few days ago, I mentioned that I thought we’d see OSx86 for a beige box before Apple shipped its first units. Last night and this morning, the blogosphere was flooded with posts about exactly that. I’m not sure who was the first to do this, and I suspect it was probably due to work from a lot of people, but UneasySilence posted a challenge and is crediting Justin Nolan as the winner, although I’m not sure exactly when xplOde went live with his version. In any case, all you want to know is either at UneasySilence or xplodenet. I recommend saving the pages to your machine, since Apple tends to get ornery about this type of thing. Better yet, someone should post them to Freenet. [...]
[...] This is really great news – you can in fact run OSX on most any PC (with SSE2/SSE3) support. I got as far as booting, but unfortunately, there is no workaround for the SSE2/SSE3 requirement (poor AMD folk like me receive no love, so my journey ends there). Some report that everything runs beautifully, to minor sound/network issues, to not working at all. It’s not too difficult to pull off if you know what you’re doing. Osx86project.org has put together a hardware compatibility list for those interested. [...]

I’m with mack. I too am not sold..there’s no way you can image “ghost” a machine without some trouble…even when ghosting diff windows machines. lets say comp “a” has a different chipset than comp “b” you have to … or not even that. somthing as simple as a monitor… you still either “a” have to install drivers or “b” change the resolution and that’s easy… here you have an operating system that started on reduced instruction set computing “RISC” ARCHITECTURE that’s by motorola. and yet you can image a new drive and it works and what’s up with the vmware files… if it’s native why vmware… or even wine.. has anyone tried wine… with it.. i’m just not sold. x86 platform is a completely diff chip… it’s like saying you can run windows on a ultra sparc “64 bit” processor… i’d like to see someone do that. Not without some tweaking i don’t think it’s possible even if apple is moving to the x86 platform. Read that on slashdot.org. But supposedly if the sse3 were an issue, which is only used for media and graphics enhancement… let’s go back kiddies were talking like a 233 MMX processor…Oooo… big deal
osX is based on next and next was designed for x86 nuff said
I have a couple questions. How are people able to do this? I know Mac is making their next machines intel, so does that mean someone leaked the Intel-OSX software? Also, is this legal? And one more: I don’t have a Pentium processor, but an Athlon 2000+, so I can’t run it, can I?
[...] Sorry about the lack of updates. I’ve been busy for the past couple days getting OS X running on my Sony Vaio TR laptop. YES it works, ive booted into it also, it works and booted fine on an ASUS laptop though no networking, i think its card specific like intel chips or something, but not SIS chips, though it saw firewire no problem

nice and all, but I believe that this is going mainstream when sombody put an actually installation DVD for x86 out. I’d love to see cheap PC’s running the strong OS X. I’d also love to see Mr. Gates loosing hair over loss of sales on his trashy OS.

Are you the same guy that tried to correct us on another post? For everything that’s going on in this post, the one thing that you happened to comment on was a simple grammatical error? Relax… What happens when we misssspell words? Oops.

i dont know shit about computers. but i want to run mac osx in my laptop. how can i do it?
Where can i download This OS X 86 Hack?
Where can i download This?
Read the article you douche. He mysteriously mentions torrents and some weird thing called a “search engine”.
Well it didn’t take too much work to get OS X to run on my AMD machine. I thought there might be issues with it being a non-intel box but OS X even recognizes the dual core CPU! It can’t figure out the on board ethernet or my 7800GTX….
one simple question .now that os x works on a pc what about the applictions ?
[...] Ok, if we can get OS X to run on PC’s we can CERTAINLY get the Autofill button in iTunes, reserved to work just on the shuffle to work on all iPods? [...]

Oh my god…I tried to install mac osx using all methods but using VMWare or PearPc (as I dont see a point trying to run mac in an emulation envireoment since it is writen for PCs now). So far no luck as I dont know how to use the dd commands: I ahve acronis to partition my hard drive, osslector to multi-boot my system/s, downloaded dd.exe which seems to me it is not runnung at all, it just quit soon after executing it, downloaded ubuntu Live Cd for AMD 64 (neva used it before and dont know what do when I boot to it!!!? and finally ised wiki’s Guide to a Simple and Accurate installlation but…
after almost three days of trying hard and NO LUCK AT ALL… i started to believe those guides are only intended for web developer or an experts whom knows what they are doing. Now I decided to waite untill someone come up with a single bootable image for us (newbies) to be able to install it.
PS:if someone can guide me or tell me what to do then please and thatnk you in advance.

cant find the damm 6gb image, anyone for a direct link??
thanks
For those who are having problems with AMD 64 bit processors, I don’t believe 64 bit processors (maybe only the AMD?) are supported.
there is a working dvd patch program that will allow you to install osx natively directly from a dvd

so, say you do a “dd ibs=1 skip=32255 obs=1M if=tiger-x86-flat.img of=/dev/hda1″
have anybody successfuly tried this?
By the way, the 32255 is hex 7DFF, which is suppossed to be the end of sec 62, thereof the begining of sec 63… which is hex 7E00 should be the first byte to be started with in the dd process… isn’t this true? I’ve tried a dozen times even by setting up Darwin 801 first in my hard drive so I can ‘theorycaly’ take over the whole hard drive using hfs+ on my laptop…. but it seems I’ve been out of luck, I wish I had a secondary pc w/sse3… :’(
Greetings !!!
Is there ANY chance to run OSX on Athlon XP ?
Are there any “patches” to enable amd to run it ?
Is SSE3 of critical importance, or it can be “emulated” through some software patch-fix ?
I have Athlon XP 2600+, FX5600, MSI K7N2Delta mobo. I hesitate to waste my time installing OSX, since I don’t know if I have required hardware…
madElDoc do a “dd if=tiger-x86-flat.img of=/dev/hda1 bs=512 skip=63″
and misterno there is a sse3 patch, I am currently using it ;)
I can’t believe what I am reading.. a dream come true for me – have been running OSX with PearPC but this is great news.
Not sure which torrent I should be grabbing though as there seems to be a few of them now. Do go for the install DVD or the VMWare image called tiger-x86..bz?
Is the install DVD just the dev-kit install or an actual install DVD?
FZ
wait a second, AMD folks are not getting any love? how do you figure? how about an athlon 64? ALL athlon 64’s have SSE2, the new 64 bit semprons, and E step Athlons are all SSE3 chips. thus they work fine
http://forums.overclockersclub.com/uploads/gallery_4758_98_71734.jpg
have a look at that screen shot. it works great
i don’t know any damned thing about computers. always looked forward to running mac os on my pc……..how can i install this osx86?? pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help!!
Yea i just found out today that my sempron is 64 bit ! Imagine my surprise, less than $300 for the comp, monitor and printer at bestbuy and it’s 64 bit, SSE3 and run’s osx with only one super minor flaw, sound comes out of only 1 speaker. strange huh? anyway mine worked more flawless than any others i’ve read about, it automatically bypassed log in screen went straight in. don’t know what else to say! once again intel beat up by lil ole amd, a sempron none the less!
[...] Awhile ago we put up a challenge to install the MacOS on any stock PC. [...]
CAn anyone provide as link for the tiger-x86-flat.img file?? PLEASE

Where can i find maxxuss patch for intel
Where can i find mac os x patch to run on a pc?Please replay to pfgr_19922yaahoo.gr
hi. is anyone here capable to provide me with the latest crack of the mac os .i’ll be gratefull if anyone in any place tells me where to dowload the entire mac os operating system with its crack . i want to install it on my pc.thanks a lot
my @ : bessakerbilel@yahoo.fr
In the instuctions they are wrong if you take the “.” out from befor eht location of the image it will work perfectly!
I was actually looking for VMWare mac images otherwise why even bother with a mac. Even the ipods have superior alternatives.
Can i have windows and mac in partitions of the same HD (and boot them)
Apple should just start supporting a whitebox system to beat out
Micro-shit. Micro-shit sucks ass. Essentially OS X has the
unix core along with a GUI which is WAAAAY better than Windows.
Everyone wants Apple because of their OS and not their
stupid hardware. Hardware is so cheap you can wipe your
ass with it because that’s how it always is. But good
software which Apple has in terms of the Operating System
is very hard to find.
Personally I am a Linux user but I believe that
OS X if open would basically just dominate the Operating
system market too easily.
Okay, here is my situation.
Right now i am on a 1st Gen MacBook Pro.
This thing was FINE for me until now.
I am going to build my own computer and I want it to preform with amazing speed and efficiency. ( know i spelled that wrong).
BUT, I CAN’T leave OS X. Especially with Leopard just around the corner.
Anyone have any ideas on what components i should get for this?
The uses this computer would be used for is digital recording. (with LOTS of multitasking)
Also, Anyone know if the final version of boot camp on Leopard will be able to run Vista?
I know that is the stupidest thing wanting to run vista on a mac…..but is it possible?
e-mail me at mattskripps@gmail.com
thanks everyone.
It works! I am running mac os x86 on my AMD64 3200+ computer with 2gb ram. Works really good. One strange problem. I Installed Mac OS X on to my IDE hd, as the first and only os on that drive, and unhooked and set the ide to boot in the bios. When I reboot after install, It dont see the partition. Its an hfs+ with jurn partition. Well so I run the install again, and it installs, and boots in to Mac OS like a charm. I dont really get it. Ive tried differeent stuff, still the same problem. If my sound card (Creative labs) and other devices where known, I must admit, I wouldnt toss out mac os x for anything. It’s really fast, and just plain neat. If you have never messed with a mac, you should! It will be your best move. Cheep(er) hardware+Mac OS X=awesome
What is the speed like of this native OS X running?.. compared with an installation on apple hardware? Anyone compared boot times.. ?
I installed it on my 3ghz p4 and it ran faster than my friends dual core ibook, it loads in about 15 seconds. Strangely his ibook runs windows faster than my pc. I think osx likes a lot of ram so if you have 1g of ram or more it should run really sweet.
I try to dd the image, but it says I don’t have permission to access /dev/hda. I’m not sure how to get around this. I tried making a new user profile with root permission, but no change.
Well, I guess that since no one is putting up the link or a proper way to find the file, this is just bunk. Sounds too much like snake oil treatment to cure all your ills. I am a Mac user and would love to see OS X running on a PC. If I can find it I will try it. So far it’s nothing but snake oil. Watch it guys, they guys are out to pull a fast one on you.
: )
Just to add to the above posting. I have searched out the torrents and found no such file. I searched all the underworld torrents as well and found no such file. Watch out. I too can fake a good image file to look like I have a PC running OS X.
Oooops! A typo in my first post. I’m sure you found it.
: )
Can anyone tell me where to download tiger-x86-flat.img? I would greatly appreciate it.
email: csifanatic@sbcglobal.net
yeah right, osx on a pc ? dat ain’t sounding to right, are you guys making this up cause i cant find the link nowhere

i have the “Tiger-x86-flat.img” and Ubuntu live cd. i dont have a Usb drive but can i put it in my ipod? and do i still type this in the terminal: “dd bs=1048676 if =./tiger-x86-flat.img of dev/hda”? i dont know im new to this. but is “sda” the same as “hda”?

THANKS!

This is BS. You dont need to install OS X on its own drive. I have 6 OS’s on 1 drive, Incuding OS X.
