Bloglines feed column expands!

Maybe I’ve never paid attention to notice this little feature…

If you’ve been using Bloglines for staying updated on all your favorite sites, maybe you can chime in and let me know how late I am noticing this small feature. The left column, which contains all your folders with subscribed feeds, is now resizeable. When did Bloglines add that feature? Now you can resize the reading pane or column without resizing your whole browser window. Snazzy!

That’s the before & after shots of Bloglines after I realized I could resize the beastly column.

As far as I can tell it works on Internet Explorer and Firefox. Hey if it works on IE it should work on every other superior browser right? [Bloglines]

uhm. the bloglines interface is a frameset. frames are resizable by default, but since so many sites force frames to be fixed-width/height, you don’t even try any more

bloglines has had resizable frames since I can remember

Much love to Bloglines, I think they have a great thing going on.

But I like having control over my data to the point that I run my own email/webmail server, use Sitebar for my bookmarks (as mentioned in another article on this site) and now run my own web based RSS Reader: Gregarius ( http://devlog.gregarius.net/ ).

The software is still young (0.50 as of this note) but I consider it very useable. A clean interface, easy to import/export your RSS Feeds, customization is comeing right along, support for plugins and pretty fast to boot. I have 80 feeds I keep up with and it hasn’t let me down so far.

It is well worth taking a look at if you already run your own webserver / mysql DB.

Woody I was using Reblog [http://www.reblog.org/]for a little bit before I checked out Gregarius. I decided to stick with Bloglines only because I could keep track of read content from multiple computers.

@AlliXSenoS: I guess I overlooked the feature. I knew Bloglines used iFrames but had no idea they were resizeable.

uhm again… :) iFrames are rarely resizable and require extra work to act that way… standard issue frames / framesets have been resizable since forever (and they have been around since forever)

@AlliXSenoS: LOL and again.. I overlooked that feature :)

Derek: Not sure I understand what you mean; I access my gregarius website from multiple computers as it is setup on my own webserver. Pop in a nice and easy to use link and I can check it anywhere…

Woody I tested the server based readers locally using Foxserv or XAMPP. I never loaded it on to an actual webserver. If I had done so, then I would have been able to check my feeds from anywhere.
