Interfacelab Flickr Importr
This post was published 4 years 7 months 11 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.I’ve relied on Flickr’s official Windows Uploadr tool for sending photographs from my computer to Flickr every since I started using the service. However, I always felt that the application was missing features that would make organizing photos easier.
Enter Interfacelabs Flickr Importr. Notice the missing ‘e’? Very Flickr! If you’re using anything other than Windows, stop reading here. Importr will only work on Windows computers. Make sure you have the .NET Framework installed.
The application itself is just swell.. Peachy? OK it’s the best Flickr uploading tool I’ve found. In addition to manually tagging images, you’re also given the option to automatically send images to your sets and groups. You even have the option to create a set from within Importr itself. I haven’t had a chance to mess around with “New Sets” or “Smart Sets” so give them a try after you download your copy. In addition, tags from third party photo organizing apps like Adobe’s Bridge or IrfanView are retained.

Groups, tags, sets… the whole shabang is all located on the right side of the window. You have the option to import single or groups of images. The bottom bar acts like a filmstrip letting you browse each image individually.
The first time you start Importr you’ll be prompted to enter your Flickr email and password. Security conscience users can opt to keep their password from being saved. So umm.. what pictures are you trying to hide eh? Unfortunately your current tags from Flickr aren’t imported into the application requiring you to enter them yourself. Unfortunately the program costs $30. Just kidding… It’s FREE. Get It
Additionally I can recommend to add IPTC keywords to all your JPEGs. Flickr Importr can/will use them as Flickr tags! Attention: BUG – When uploading, picture upload with Flickr Importr will hang (status: today) if you have special characters (i.e. äöü) somewhere in title, description or tags!
Q: How to add IPTC keywords?
A: You can use the freeware tool PixVue for annotations. PixVue integrates great in Windows Explorer
