Chris asks:

I want to know how to find restaurants in specific areas. I’m looking for a website that can list restaurants near an address, intersection, ect. Google Local does not really give me what I’m looking for, so is there something better?

I’m sure we’ve all had a similar question in mind. What to do when we’re looking for a local restaurant or watering hole within close proximity to a certain address? There is one online service that I’ve find myself relying on more and more… Citysearch. Unfortunately I don’t live in the rural areas of the country so I can not attest for the useability in smaller towns.

It’s easy enough to figure out. Choose your city and conduct a search including your home address or wherever you’re at at the moment. For example, say I’m looking for places serving sushi in Seattle:

Citysearch

Click for a larger preview. I did a general search for sushi in Seattle, WA. For more specific results, enter a full starting address like your home address.

The search results will include the names of restaurants serving sushi, address, phone number, customer rating, and distance from the starting address.

Chris mentioned that Google wasn’t as helpful. I went to Google Maps and chose the Local Search above the search bar. Enter what you’re looking for and a starting address at Google will pull up results the area. The results aren’t as thorough but it’s another option if you swear by Google services.
