Here’s an interesting alternative for Microsoft Office & OpenOffice users. gOFFICE (no affiliation with Google), provides an online productivity suite for internet users. gOFFICE provides a word processor, desktop publishing, presentations, and spreadsheet option.

[gOFFICE] is an online office suite. You can think of it as a software application you use to accomplish work, like writing letters and creating greeting cards and business cards. You probably already use Microsoft Office to do such work. This site is like an online version of a conventional office suite. Just as you now use Hotmail, GMail or Yahoo mail to send email, you can also use gOFFICE for office tasks.

Compatible with IE & Mozilla based browsers. Registration is free. I tested the service out and found the interface easy to navigate. Documents can be saved as PDF documents for easy cross platform sharing. I wasn’t able to open existing documents on my local drive in gOFFICE, maybe someone else can manage to figure it out?
