Why thank you, PCMall! Tiger EARLY!

For your viewing pleasure – the opening video with seperate audio file, or everything as one file.

Don’t believe me? Tell me I’m wrong when you install it…

EDIT: Seems that there is a torrent of the final version floating on the net.

  2. Callum says:

Thanks Tim, I\’m a whore for this stuff – so how was \’registration\’ any new verfication or IDs to type in? I can\’t see how Apple will be able to tell you\’ve installed without permission… i mean early.

    Great anyway. Cheers.

  3. Dan says:

Everything was fine, but there are a few .Mac problems

  4. Eric says:

By opening video, do you mean you have to watch this everytime you boot?

    Ugh.

  5. Dan says:

No, just when you first setup the computer.

  6. Big Johnson says:

“By opening video, do you mean you have to watch this everytime you boot?”

Even if you did have to watch it every time you had to boot, you wouldn’t be seeing it much.

  7. Steve Jobs says:

Tiger Is available here as posted on almost every news site, so quit your jealousy..

  10. Bill Gates Wannabe says:

    OMFG APPLE SUXORZ

  11. Bill Gates says:

Yes. I agree with the \”wannabe\”.

  12. brandon says:

well… the reason i was askin the build number is… i installed the torrent file that was makin the rounds lastweek and it installed build 8A428 on my system… but i didn\’t get any intro video that played like that….

hmm….. it\’s no biggie but still strange.

  13. David Wahler says:

It seems a little odd that the last half of it is just music with no video… is it supposed to be like that or is my download broken?

  14. Dan says:

It is supposed to be like that – the black section is for background music when you register the machine…

  15. DUUUDE says:

dude!\” apple is the coolest ever! they are so cool it makes my weenis stand up on its end! i never feel this way except for when i hear exciting news about my insanily grate macintosh appils! think differant! go appel! 17. Tiger says says:

    It\’sGGGGGRRR EAT!

  18. Chris says:

Brandon, no you wouldn\’t see the intro video if you were installing it onto a machine that you already had os x on and you were upgrading. You only see an intro video when you first install os x on a clean hard drive, or you just got a new computer.

Can someone please post the exact size in bytes (xxx, xxx, xxx) of the REAL ACTUAL DVD so it can be compared with the one that was released via the Internet so we\’ll know if we have the real one??? Mine will arrive on the 29th, but I\’d like to know what I installed will = what I paid for. Thanks!!

  20. J says:

    hey now…

I don\’t know why you guys were fooling those poor souls who just wanted to know the truth to their damn questions. tell the truth! you DO have to watch this Tiger video every time you boot up. now don\’t lie! pleeeeez…

and whenever an application freezes under Tiger (which, of course, happens SOOOO less frequently), you have to deal with just the \”Hello\” clip part of it, like \”HELLO! what the f*** happened? oh yeah…just my new, loveable TIGER!!!\”

it makes life so much easier. especially more soothing on the kernel panic front. don\’t y\’all agree?!? I can\’t wait to get mine from Amazon.com, and yes, I\’m jealous of you full-price-thru-apple.com-payers, but hey…you get to work the bugs out for me…no?

BTW, please note I love my PowerBook and can\’t wait to install my Big Kitty and all the preceding was a joke. love to the Mac faithful! Steve promised he\’d bilk us for all we were worth if he ever came back to the company…AND HE\’S FULFILLING THAT PROMISE!

    =]

  21. macguy says:

    Hey,

I also have Tiger and find that the video conferencing feature is PATHETIC with 128kb/s uploads, does this happen for you too when speaking with other people who have Tiger.

However, when speaking with somebody with Panther, its okay.

    Tell me what you think.

    cheers

  22. Alexander The Phazon Smuggler says:

Is the video supposed to be black for a minute in the end?

It is supposed to be like that – the black section is for background music when you register the machine…

  24. Casey says:

Might I suggest that the admin of this site use stripslashes() when printing comments.

  25. John says:

\”Brandon, no you wouldn\\’t see the intro video if you were installing it onto a machine that you already had os x on and you were upgrading. You only see an intro video when you first install os x on a clean hard drive, or you just got a new computer.\”

Actually, if you upgrade, Setup Assistant.app will launch when you log in and will play the intro video, just not full screen. Either way, it will play the first time you install.

  26. Dan says:

    Will do Casey

Could you upload the new wallpaper? I can\’t wait much longer!

  30. annoyed says:

    Why can\’t \”someone\” properly \”fix\” escaped \”quotes\” and \’apostrophes\’? Ugh.

  31. Dan says:

Just the web application goofing up… Will fix that. My focus now is to keep the webserver up…

  32. Dave says:

    Hi Folks,

has anybody the band’s name who wrote that
    quite unusually piece of Intro-Music?

    Greetz from Cologne/Germany

  33. I am rad. You are all hosers. Look up at the salami before it hits you in the head. When will all this madness end? You know the war pigs are driving us straight to hell.

  34. John C says:

i have that torrent build number but when I installed there were a few quirks. The \”about this mac\” function didn\’t work at all. the Dock and Dashboard also didnt work. There were a few issues with networking as well. So I\’m unsure if this is the final version or not.

  35. Steve blowJOBS II says:

Explain this to me folks: When I downloaded the so-called \”8A428\”, I double-click on the install and then asks me to reboot but only reboots back into the original OS. It does not start the install/upgrade. Any ideas?

  36. Derek says:

You need to burn the dmg to a dvd and install from that. You can’t run the install/upgrade with the dmg on the desktop.

  37. Steve blowJOBS II says:

    Derek,
Thank you so much for the information. I will give that a try…

  38. Steve blowJOBS II says:

    Hopefully anyone can answer this:

When you say burn the .dmg to a dvd, do you I just burn that file to a dvd or do I have to make the dvd bootable?

  39. Dan says:

It is already bootable – so I am told.

  40. alex says:

so what are these .mac problems?

  41. Dan says:

Every now and again the Sync fails…

  42. Johnny says:

Ummm i have a question similar to Steve blowJOBS II. do u just put the .dmg on the DVD? also i want to know if i can put the whatever file im supposed to on CDs.

  43. Derek says:

Use the disk utility to burn the exact DMG. The only way you can get the DVD broken up to fit on to multiple CD’s is through a media exchange with Apple which is like $10. Probably not the safest thing to pursue if you umm ergh acquired Tiger instead of purchasing a copy.

  44. mark says:

It’s good. Nice blog. keep it up. Visit us at jack

  45. Karl maRcX says:

I gave my storebought Panther disks to a friend. Now he is offering me his store-bought Tiger. He says he registered the software (which probably means he registered his computer upon install?). Is it safe for me to upgrade from his Apple original dvd? Will I have to register my computer? Will there b a problem if I do?
    Thanks! ¡Que viva la revolucion!

  46. This has not been able to work for me. I am not too sure why!

  47. robin says:

plaes give jou my the “tiger intro”?????
