K7 – Free voicemail
This post was published 5 years 19 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. This is an interesting service which allows you to have a voicemail and fax number online… FOR FREE! After a simple registration you are assigned a phone number that you can then hand out to friends, family, strangers, or random people that you meet. (I see this being somewhat useful for the latter). Imagine going to the bar and meeting someone, do you really want to give them your real home or cell phone number? Trust me, you don’t! Use your K7 number to ‘pre-screen’ people. Anytime someone calls your number to leave a voicemail or to send a fax, you will be notified via email. You can check your messages through the K7 website or download them directly through your email notification.
When callers dial your number they will go straight to your voicemailbox and hear a default pre-recorded message giving the option to either a.) send a fax or b.) leave a message after the tone. Of course you do have the option to personalize and remove the fax request.
If you’re lucky you can register with the vanity number of your choice. All numbers will be assigned with (206) aread codes based on server availability. Not a big deal since most people have free long distance if you’re outside the Seattle area.
Strangely easy and quick to sign up. i have a number now, but what do I do with it? I confess to being a bit skeptical about this – nothing is this easy and truly free….
well you can hand it out to some people just to test it out. i think it’s kinda cool. i have it setup for just voicemails and i get them emailed to me when they come in. i can then download them and save them if needed. i iwsh i could do that with my paid cell phone voicemails. i know i can save them through the carrier but it would be cool to save local copies
I have had this service for years and it has always worked. Never have had to pay a dime.
[...] While the serivce is not at all mesmerizing (recall K7), I do believe that NetZero is making a great effort by providing this service free of charge. [...]
[...] K7 Unified Messaging – Highly recommended for individuals interested in acquiring a disposable phone number. K7 is completely free [previous mention], and numbers stay active assuming you check your voicemail at least once in a 30 day period through a standard phone line. K7 even offers vanity numbers – depending on availability – and the option to receive voicemail’s via email (WAV format). The downside? New phone numbers are limited to the 206 (Greater Seattle) area code. [...]
