TweakGuides.com – The Windows XP Tweaking Companion (XPTC)
From the forums:
Since i know a lot of you out there are windows users. this link might be worth a look for you. personally i used this site to tweak my windows brick. windows xp has too many services running by default which eat up valuabl system resources. the best thing to do is to go to start > run > type ’services.msc’ [hit enter] and to go through that list checking to see if anything is set to run automatically at startup. use either guides above to use as reference when trying to decide what you do or don’t need. it’s safe enough to work with services.msc so in case you turn something off or to manual and notice you did indeed need that service you can go back in and turn it on. changes don’t take effect until your next restart.
