Have iPod; will bootleg
When Apple introduced the iPod, the company was aware that people might use it to rip off music from the Net or friends’ machines. Each new iPod, in fact, is emblazoned with a sticker that warns, “Don’t Steal Music.”
But it is unlikely that Apple imagined people would walk into computer stores, plug their iPod into display computers and use it to copy software off the hard drives.
I’ve thought about how easy it would be to walk into an Apple store, plug-in an iPod, and copy music from the hardrives. But I had never thought of ripping whole software suites.

wow, that kid was thinking on his feet.
Just goes to show you…no one is buying anything microsoft anymore, they are just copying it.
i can’t imagine why a computer store would leave the install files for apps on it’s computers. unless im mistaken, i don’t think you can just drag and drop the folder to copy and run the app.
Well, you ARE completely mistaken. A large number of Mac apps are self-contained in their own folder and can be installed just by dragging and dropping the folder (or even just a single application icon!). Microsoft specifically made this one of its biggest selling points (and an advantage over Windows Office) all the way back in the Office 98 version: the application folder contained a “self-repair” application that automatically installed necessary libraries and fonts the first time it was run on a new system.
Congratulations. You’ve found a news story from 2002. Welcome to two years later.
Actually you just read a two year old story that has still has some relevance.
LOL. So, basically, if you FORGOT how to steal all your apps for your MAC OS 10, here’s a little reminder? LOL.
