LG Plans for 6 to 7 Megapixel Camera Phones

With the digital camera megapixel race heating up fast, camera phones are destined to follow the same path. Telecoms Korea is reporting that LG Electronics has plans to bring the first 6-megapixel camera phone to market in Japan.
The LG spokesperson confirmed that the sensor will most likely come from Canon, and may even be 7 megapixels.
Although the resolution of these hi-resolution phones will be comparable to pocket sized or SLR style digital cameras currently on the market, the features and image quality will be far away.
dammit i want these phones to come stateside pronto! why are we soooo far behind? i think there is a huge potential market for these phones here in the states. why do all our neighboring countries get to have so much fun?
