As usual, the folks who run the Emmys are handing out free junk to people who are too rich to go buy it themselves. It is, literally, junk to them. Sprint gave out Samsung MM-A700 wireless handsets and limited-edition 14-carat-gold-plated phone charms at the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards to all the presenters, while Zenith gave out ultra-thin 15-inch flat screen TVs.
Sprint Corp. has signed on as the official communications service provider to the Academy of Television Arts & Science’s 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which airs Sunday night.
Sprint PCS will use the event to hype its new Vision Multimedia Services offerings, featuring streaming audio and video content from CNN, NBC Universal and Fox Sports. Sprint is promoting the show with a text message-based trivia game and will broadcast video clips from the event for subscribers to the carrier’s E! Entertainment channel.
