Ron Howard’s blow-up dolls

There’s a man who drives round North America with 10,000 inflatable people in the back of his truck. Seabiscuit was the first to replace extras with inflatables. The 7,000 extras who jammed the racetrack stands were blow-up dolls. Who needs troublesome humans, who want pay, lunch etc when you can use plastic? Ron Howard is currently finding himself in a bit of hot water with Canadian Unions for using them instead of real extras on set of the new Russell Crowe movie, The Cinderella Man.

(FYI: An inflatable corpse is currently being developed for battlefield scenes. The dolls are, of course, made in China.)
