To all you people out there who belive Apple is dead or on its last legs.
If Apple is dead – It is the most beautiful corpse I have ever seen!
You know – this post is SUPER old. Actually – I think it is the oldest archived uneasy silence blog. Yet, wow… the people were wrong. I guess it is just funny how things change!
– Cheers to iPod, blogging, history and of course: uneasysilence!
This was our first post.
Hey Dan,
why do you guys write this blog? There’s barely any ads, how do you make any money from it? Is it just a hobby?
It’s always something that I couldn’t figure out, I read this blog a lot, but it almost has no commercial swing to it like all the others. (yet the quality and quantity is on par with any of the commercial ones anyway!)
Chris –
How do we write this blog? With computers! (Just Kidding, there are a bunch of monkeys with typewriters – they are cheap)
Seriously though..
If it was up to me there would be no ads. For the last two years our hosting bills were in excess of $1,200 a month, and I needed to do SOMETHING to get some money back. We recently moved to shiny new servers that brought performance up (We do have 50,000+ unique readers a day), but costs down.
The ads, help make some ends meet, but the site is a legally recognized company – and hope to make it Derek’s and my primary job.
Derek and I take this site VERY seriously, and will continue to work even harder to rise the quality up even more.
Wait until you see our live blogging extravaganza in January.
Yeah but that’s what I’m saying…
there’s barely any ads! :p Especially on the front page, there’s a TINY yahoo ad down the side.
I’m used to engadget shoving 500 megatonnes of ads on EVERY single page, they probably make $2000 per page view.
I’m going to chime in ;)
The real value in what we do is the feedback – from readers like yourself – that we receive in return for what we push, prod, and blog about.
