A Tale About A White iPhone
On UNEASYsilence, awhile ago, we posted a picture of a white iPhone 4 that was converted from black to white by a company called Zeetron. What started as a pleasurable experience, quickly became a tale of frustration, unnecessary waiting and lack of quality leaving a white warranty less iPhone and a warning.

No, this is not a post for the people who want to say that an iPhone shouldn’t be converted. Rather, it’s a post for people that are interested in converting and what to be aware of. All experiences will be different, but this is a tale of mine.
November 8 – I say goodby to my Black iPhone & pay to overnight ship the phone to Zeetron.
November 10 – I receive my shiny White iPhone! Fast service, fast shipping, & the thing is Gorgeous! But wait… the speaker grill “mesh” is missing & there is an issue with the touch screen toward the bottom. It seems to have a couple small dead spots that makes typing or clicking on certain buttons difficult or impossible. (frustrating!)
-I’m an understanding guy, things happen. Since I’ve had such friendly fast service thus far, I email Zeetron to inquire about these issues.
November 11 – As expected, I get a friendly email back informing me that the speaker grill part is not included. (??) BUT they will install it for me if I send the phone back as well as fix the unresponsive touch screen. I have to PAY again to overnight the phone to them (boo!) but they will fix and overnight the phone back to me. (yay!)
November 15 – I overnight the phone to Zeetron & eagerly wait. I email Zeetron the tracking number.
November 16 – The phone is received by Zeetron.
November 17 – Haven’t heard anything from Zeetron yet, so I email to ask if I should be expecting a package today. They reply and tell me the tech is not in today & the phone will be shipped tomorrow. (Grr)
November 18 – I emailed asking for the tracking number and confirmation that the phone has shipped. No reply
November 19 – I emailed again asking for the status. Zeetron replied advising that the phone has shipped today & I will receive it on Monday. I am also told that “The speaker mesh is a new service which we have recently started offering, which is why that was not replaced. Everything else is in working order.”
-Wait a second, you specifically told me you would replace it if I send the phone back. At this point, I am so frustrated I don’t care. I just want my phone back & be DONE with it.
November 22 – I receive the phone back from Zeetron a full WEEK after I sent the phone back for repair. TWO weeks since I had a good working phone.
*Speaker grill was not replaced.
*The touch screen still has the same dead spots. Also the screen protector I had on is still in the same position indicating to me that they held my phone for a week and did nothing.
Now regardless of what your opinion is about the black to white conversion, I wanted to make sure everyone gets a real review… Not a hand slected 5 star review posted on the service provider’s website. You might think it is ugly, yes it voids your warranty, of course it is silly to spend that much money on something so trivial, but people are curious. I sure learned my lesson.
$199.99 for the service
$30 x2 for overnight shipping
——-
Equals $300 & 2 weeks of my time. If Zeetron does anything to help I will update this post but for now, consider yourself WARNED!
