SlingPlayer Mobile Update Submitted to Apple – 3G Hopes Still Alive!

My favorite iPhone App, SlingPlayer, has been submitted to the iPhone App store sporting a few new features such as:

True 16×9 widescreen support that stretches the entire width of the screen
An improved remote control interface
Faster connection, channel change, and remote control response times
and Integrated DISH Remote Access for users with DISH Network Satellite TV

While limited to DISH Network subscribers who also have a Slingbox, this feature represents a major usability upgrade. It talks directly to the DISH Receiver, allowing us to draw a guide natively on the iPhone instead of just piping in a picture of it. In addition, DISH Remote Access has search and filtering technology that are not possible even when sitting in front of your TV.

Sadly 3G is still not enabled in this update (STUPID AT&T!!!!!!!!) but SlingMedia has submitted a 3G-enabled version to Apple intended for distribution outside the US but as always – Apple is silent on issue.
