The iPhone of Poverty – How AT&T and Apple Plan to Pillage Your Pocket
It seems that Apple and AT&T are working their hardest to make the iPhone the next Trojan horse. They are pushing that the iPhone is faster and cheaper… This has to be the biggest bait and switch I have ever seen and executives at both companies need to hang their heads in shame as they pick the pockets of willing (dare I say foolish) next gen iPhone adopters.
But Dan, you ask, The iPhone is almost a quarter of the price as the first gen iPhone can can it be more?
Easy, the money grubbing soul suckers at the privacy invading data void know as AT&T are increasing the prices on the back end.
It is no secret that the iPhone 3G will have a $10 monthly bump in data pricing, but now those included text messages are getting the boot too! This is confirmed in an interview Om Malik had with AT&T Mobility chief Ralph de la Vega.
OM: Has there been a change in the cost of data plans?
RDLV: The data plans are different on the 3G iPhone versus the 2G iPhone. Consumers will pay $30 a month every month, while enterprises will pay $45 a month. This is what you pay us on other PDA devices such as Blackberry Curve. The SMS messages are not bundled anymore, and you pay for what you want. Again the prices are based on what you buy.
This is blatant extortion of a loyal user base and is a shameful business practice and hope all iPhone adopters will think twice come July 11. Simply shameful!
Huge props to Kevin at JKontheRun for spotting this!
Think I’m off base? Sound off!
