LinkedIn: Look, you can add pictures!
The “professional” social networking site LinkedIn is now giving users the ability to upload images to profiles. It will be limited to one photo at 80 by 80 pixels and you’ll be able to configure who can see it.
Now, I understand LinkedIn is the professional social networking site and it wants to distance itself from Facebook because it’s targeting a certain niche, but really, this wasn’t a feature? Am I the only one thinking that this is one feature that would not make me think “Bah, how unprofessional! You can have pictures to identify people! Pass!”?
I somehow feel that in an effort, on the part of these social network companies, to be individual and niche certain changes may take place and certain features may (or may not) be included, but this news makes me think that this whole social network scene has hit fever pitch and it may very well crumble soon. I can’t handle being on all these sites with all these rules.
Now, I never used LinkedIn, so I have to ask, is this really a welcome change? I may have never used the site but I at least knew about it, meaning it’s pretty popular to be on people’s radar, so for those of you using the site: was the site really missing this and is it a welcome addition?
