Forget the AA’s and leave the power adaptors at home. For $350 (?!) the Trevor Baylis Eco Media Player EMP-MX71 is powered via a USB connection to PC or a wind-up crank that with one minute of winding can deliver 40 minutes of playback.

In terms of features it sports an FM stereo radio, video player, photo viewer, an 1.8-inch color screen, internal speaker, and comes with 2GB of memory. It can play MP3, WMA. ASF and WAV audio files, plus MP4 and other video formats. For the price, I suggest you just get an iPod and hand crank charge it yourself.
