Piracy Nets Lower Prices
Avast Matey! Pirates in China have forced Microsoft to lower prices on Windows Vista by up to 50%. Vista Home Basic is now priced at 499 yuan ($66) from 1,521 yuan, and Windows Ultimate is 899 yuan from 1,802 yuan.
Microsoft is not the first company to cut prices due to piracy. Warner Home Video is offering DVD’s at $1.50 per DVD to stimulate sales. Do you think it is unfair to consumers in countries where piracy is not rampant? Are they rewarding bad behavior?
