KDE Dolphin

Every once in a while, something comes a long that makes me seriously reconsider my choice of OS. Last time it was Beryl, and now it’s the new file explorer for KDE by the name of Dolphin. Looking more like some sort of animated linux version of Path Finder for OS X, Dolphin allows drag-and-drop re-sorting of viewing elements as well as some really spiffy transition animations. Maybe it’s time to check out Kubuntu.

    I’d totally switch if only TextMate was available (don’t tell me Emacs..) and if X was more solid (aka was rewritten from the ground up with something like OSX’s UI engine)

    I second Ronald’s assessment – it’s just drag-able panes in that video. So what?

    @ Ronald, Mibrilane: Apple fans are always overly impressed by small features and eyecandy. I mean, saying you are going to “reconsider your choice of OS” for something so small as a visual theme, and not important features like performance algorithms or reliability, makes very little sense.

    Your joking right? OS X and just about any unix based OS are based on performance and reliability first, GUI last.
