It’s Official: Tether Your Blackberry To Your Mac (Blackberry DUN)

It’s official. iMobiMac has released their utility that enables you to piggyback on your Blackberrys data connection for free. To use DUN on your Mac you’ll need to signup to get the beta on iMobiMac’s webpage then download a JAD file on your device (www.imobimac.com/ota/imm.jad) and run an application on your Mac. Very simple actually.

Since the program is in beta it also has three known issues:

  • iMobimac Beta Version does not support password protected blackberry at this time
  • iMobimac Beta Version does not support/work in conjunction with Pocket Mac at this time. If you have Pocket Mac you will have to uninstall it
  • iMobimac Beta Version comes with a 10 megabyte trial period

We are in the process of reviewing the application, but if you want to see for yourself – check out iMobiMac’s webpage (or use the downloads above).

As with previous Bberry solutions, it seems your data is routed through a third party proxy. Something to keep in mind if you’re paranoid.

Well, I always recommend people use a VPN (Its no secret that HotSpotVPN is my VPN of choice!)

I have a Blackberry with EVDO and was wondering what kind of upload and download speeds will I get with this software while trying to access the internet or download e-mail well tethered to my Mac?

Hey, if someone has this program and can put out some type of review to let us know the inter working of the software or some insight into it. They’re pricing it pretty high $70.
