Halo 3 Laser Tag

You guys remember laser tag? Get a group of 13 year old wannabe soldiers together on a weekend afternoon to re-enact the epic battles of the ages– in your mom’s backyard. Inevitably, someone’s gun would run out of batteries, someone else would find a way to cover up their target area, and the whole enterprise would collapse into pre-pubescent chaos.

The new laser tag set from Jasman Toys stays mostly true to form, with bulky receivers and battery packs, but makes up for this with the introduction of two frick’n sweet guns based on the weapons in Halo 3. Available this October at Hot Topic,– I know, eww– the Covenant Plasma Rifle and Pistol have some nifty features like recoil, authentic game SFX, and on the Plasma Rifle, the ever annoying over-heating when fired continuously for too long. The Energy Sword will be available sometime in 2008– but how do you play laser tag with a sword?
