The First iPhone Real Apps: More Hearsay and Conjecture

The internet is abuzz about a new rumored, maybe, kinda, sorta, could be, not positive, rumored hack that allows third party apps to be installed on Apples popular phone.

Another Free iPhone checkpoint has been reached. It has been reported but unconfirmed that the first 3rd party, non-safari iPhone app was run today in the wild. Developer “Nightwatch” did the compilation and execution of the program using his ARM/Mach-O Toolchain. Keep going fellas, keep going.

I say put up or shut up. I’m tired of all all these rumored stories that originate via IRC chatrooms. Honestly, the proof needs to be in the pudding and lets see this mysterious hack in the wild!

The comments of some of these guys are funny. I am happy to know the truth behind the speculation. Apple really gets NO revenue from the contract part of the iPhone. The only money they get is from the sale of the phone. Also, Verizon and T-Mobile would be stupid to activate an iPhone, they may be infringing on the rights of Apple. My aunt (ATT employee) talked about this good and long a few days before the iPhone came out. Apple made an interesting move by not letting anyone on a discounted, corporate line activate an iPhone (stupid move IMO, but others think it’s smart). Since they get no money from the contract, it just seems crazy. I believe that in the long run Apple may buy out ATT&T. I’m no business analyst, but it just seems that is the way things are going.
