Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue… Guess What? This eCard Owns You!
You know those god awful sweet little animated eCards that spam stuff your inbox for no reason now have the potential to harm your computer.
The Washington Post said Saturday that Internet spammers were at it again in a big way by concealing a computer virus in a link to an online greeting card.
Postini, an e-mail security company, told the Post that since July 2, it has seen about 275 million of these spam messages.
This has to be the smartest delivery method I have heard of to date. Just pick a generic name as the sender, spoof the email of some popular eCard site. Most people will gladly install an ActiveX control to see the nauseating animation and music. Todays lesson, don’t ever open eCards (and hopefully this can kill off an industry)
