iPhone Firmware Found on Apple’s Servers

Apple’s iPhone firmware was found as a download on Apple’s website. Once the file is decompressed it reveals two DMG’s, one of which is password protected. You can only assume thats where all the good stuff is.

Now mind you this is NOT the OS, but the firmware, but having possession of the firmware of a device could enable you to modify the most basic functions of how a device operates.

Anyone care to Brute force the password protected DMG?

sounds fun. If i wasn’t sure that 1000 other people are already doing it, or if Ihad any interest in buying an iPhone i’d give it a try. :P So how about those returns hinted in the article yesterday? We going to get an update on that?

One of the DMG as a password file in… users root and mobile have passwords… a simple wordlist will take care of those :D
